EPA and DHA are two types of omega-3 fatty acids that provide slightly different benefits - EPA puts the spotlight on reducing inflammation, while DHA plays a key role in brain function and maintaining eye health.
EPA counters the production of inflammatory compounds in the body to help evade the development of health complications such as cardiovascular disease and joint pain.
DHA, on the other hand, is a critical component of brain cell membranes and supports the fluidity of cell membranes in the brain. In particular, it has been proven to support the brain’s structure and function, enhancing memory, focus, and cognitive performance.
Omega-3 fatty acids, especially DHA and EPA, work behind the scenes to protect your heart by reducing blood triglyceride levels. High levels of these triglyceride fats can clog blood vessels and increase the risk of high blood pressure if not controlled.
